“Fill It Up!” Remember when it wasn’t so painful to say that when you needed gas for your car? Luckily that’s not an issue when I’m putting together shows like this one. There’s so much great music being made available these days that it’s a painless, exciting task to put One Man’s Jazz together. This week’s episode is a great example: new releases by South African drummer Asher Gamedze with The Black Lungs Ensemble, the influential Nacka Forum from Sweden, drummer Devin Gray with his second politically charged volume of “Melt All The Guns”, alto saxophonist Caroline Davis’ latest, a rollicking avant-jazz-rock quartet from Japan led by the first lady of Japanese creative music, Satoko Fujii, dynamic trumpeter Peter Evans, and the return of pianist D.D. Jackson and his “Poetry Project”. There’s more, but why spoil a surprise? I hope you enjoy the music.
