The always engaging drummer Dan Weiss is back with his band, Starebaby, for his second release with this killin’ group. “Natural Selection”, like their first album, is filled with powerful riffs and group interplay that continue to reveal the band’s affinity for rockin’ out. Also new this week, music from a gathering of European jazz collectives (SPIME 2019), Australia’s Joseph Franklin/Sam Gill duo, French bassist Yves Rousseau inspired by his teenage rock idols, pianist Angelica Sanchez, and trumpeter Steph Richards incorporating the sense of smell into the music on her latest.
