This week features a pair of Polish trumpet players: Tomasz Dabrowski and Piotr Damasiewicz. Dabrowski’s group & album are called The Individual Beings, a phrase he learned from his mentor Tomasz Stanko, and he was able to use one of Stanko’s prized horns for the session. Damasiewicz frequently explores global connections to improvised music and he does so on “Śpiwle” with his Into The Roots band. Other new releases sampled this week are Gordon Grdina’s solo album, a pair from Intakt Records by Dave Gisler with Jamie Branch and David Murray & Omre Ziegele’s Where’s Africa. The show closes with a track from “Malabar”, a new release by New Orleans’ stellar bassist, James Singleton. All that and more and definitely worth listening to!
