This episode of OMJ is packed to the gills with outstanding music and artists. The French label, Rogue Art, has always been a magnet for me and I finally have some of their uncompromising releases to offer. You’ll hear tunes from three new albums by William Parker & Matthew Shipp, Ingrid Laubrock & Stéphane Payen, and The Judson Trio (Joelle Leandre, Matt Maneri and Gérald Cleaver.) Two excellent duo recordings get sampled too: Angelika Niescier with Alexander Hawkins and Steph Richards with Joshua White. Haven’t heard much from trumpeter Russell Gunn for a while but he’s back with a bang – The Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra. I have though heard from master drummer Andrew Cyrille not that long ago, and his new quartet release “The News” is now out on ECM, with David Virelles, Bill Frisell & Ben Street. Lots of other interesting stuff too. Listen up!!!!!!!!!!
