This episode of One Man’s Jazz has a decidedly international theme. Given that International Jazz Day takes place two days after this show, I loaded up. Not that that’s particular unique. I’ve been including music by artists from many lands over these past years, and I have no plans to change. I tend to think of One Man’s Jazz as International Jazz Day every show. So in addition to several tracks included in the first two hours, the entire third hour is “atlas-driven”. New albums featured come from Loft veteran Alan Braufman, pianist Matthew Shipp, Jane Ira Bloom with Mark Helias, the powerful Heroes Are Gang Leaders, Tremid Spark, and Portugal’s José Lencastre with Common Ground.
