New York loft scene pioneer, saxophonist Alan Braufman has released only two albums under his own name, one in the heydays of the loft scene back in the 70’s, and now a new one called “The Fire Still Burns”. A sample of that recording comes up in the first hour, as does England’s Trevor Watts with a new solo work called “The Lockdown: Solos”. There’s another new Liberty Ellman in there too. In the second hour, the NY underground music scene follows the Loft Scene chronologically, and two blasts from that scene will scorch your ears: Owl Xounds Exploding Galaxy and Scurvy. France’s fine saxophonist Christophe Monniot makes his OMJ debut, while Steffen Schorn, the busy German multi-reedist’s latest project includes the revered Hermeto Pascoal. The final hour is a less-talk more music set, highlighted by the opening tracks from Ben Zucker ‘s and Jamie Branch’s new albums.
